With a population of 1,604,000 in 2007, Marseille is the second largest city in France, and a port number. Marseille is proud of its uniqueness and diversity. Yes, it's not like the rest of France, where the main entrance door to Africa, has a Mediterranean flavor to remember what can be more of Africa than in Europe.

Marseille is by far the oldest city in France, from 2500 years ago. His story is raw and still visible today. A complete new train link to Paris is a big boost for the city, and many buildings have been refurbished.

The Central Exchange and the adjacent Rue St. Ferreol district is the main commercial street in Marseille. Even in the central market is the Historical Museum of Marseille, which contains a well preserved hull of a boat of the sixth century, and Greek and Roman historical artifacts and records. Other noteworthyMuseums include the Musée Cantini, Marseille associated with artistic activity as well as the characteristics of modern and contains some of Picasso. The Musée de la Mode Fashion is a modern museum, with over 2000 designs from the past 30 years or so.

Marseille known attraction is the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, which stands on a hill above the town in the south of the port. It is famous for the colossal golden statue of the Madonna and Child, which can be seen for milesSea.
